Dear Students and Parents, We are very excited to introduce you to Nevada's Online High School: Beacon Academy of Nevada. We are a state chartered public online high school that fits your student, your family and your life. At Beacon Academy of Nevada, students receive a high-quality, personalized education that prepares them for life beyond high school. We accomplish this by offering a complete learning package which includes an innovative virtual learning environment and an extensive support system involving teachers, mentors, guidance counselor, student outreach coordinator and staff who are personally committed to helping students realize their greatest potential. My Background I am an experienced educator (28 years) and have taught at all levels K- 12, everything from 1st grade reading to 7th grade math to 10th grade physical science. In my early years as a teacher I recognized that principals play a key role in the success of a school and it was important for me to have a broad range of experiences before becoming one. I believe this process has given me great insights into the evolution that students, teachers, and parents pass through on their educational journey. For much of my career, I have been focused on integrating technology as a tool into student's experiences вЂ" in all subject areas. I strongly believe that with technology changes, distance learning has become a standard option for many business training models - and it is important for students to become adept with this method of learning.
